On answering my handphone, son's voice at the other end said," Che che (meaning sister in cantonese dialect) wants to know why you are not back yet."

Yes, number one reason is why they rang you.
They miss you and need assurance you will be home with them soon.
That is what my daughter and son does when they need to know where I am when they are secretly concerned.
Having said that, there have been odd ocassions where they will say, "Can you buy us this or that on the way home?" :)
