Work

I have additional work responsibilites this new year at school. Been given 2 extra classes to teach. My co-curriculum duties have increased too. Okay, I must look at it positively. I must have been responsible and that is why I am given more? The human part of me wants to compare with other colleagues I notice they did not receive the same fate as me.
I will resolve to do my best at work and look at the positive side.Ever been in the same situation as me?

  • During our traditional watchnight service, we always pray this prayer. Here is an extract from it -

    Give me the work you would have me do. Give me many tasks or have me step aside while You call others. Put me forward or humble me...

    I am always 'horrified' by that statement - have me step aside while You call others...

  • I've never felt it unfair to be given more work. Didn't mind it when i was in govt service and certainly don't mind it now that i'm in private. ;-) Even when there's no financial renumeration attached to it.

    It's my vocation. As long as people benefit from it.

  • I constantly get more taskings, I just look at it as they know it will get done, and get done right. I say Congrats on proving your worth.

  • Look at it this way, they only give more work to capable and hard working individuals so I guess it is in a way a compliment to you. Got more pay or not? Dat wan oso important.

    firehorse, no extra pay! The same task done by someone else is considered heavy work but when I do it, it is regarded as light work and so they dump more duties to me.I took this opportunity to remind daughter that life is NOT fair and to be prepared to face realities of life.

  • i agree with FH. I also tend to give more work to the more capable and trusted staff; simply because they get it done. Of course you know that a good boss will reward accordingly.
