ice

I was having tea with my son at a cafe. Three ladies , in their 40's, were seated at the table next to ours. They seemed to be having a good time, chattering away, in English!

One of them asked for the waitress and said ," Please bring me a block of ice." I was amused when she said that.

In my head, I imagined a big block of ice brought out to her. She should have said " a cube of ice."

Dare I correct her ? Would you have if you have been there?

  • She's a total stranger and it's not that important to correct her. I guess I would let it rest.

  • LOL, I suppose that's what comes from being in the teaching line. You feel the urge to rectify mistakes even outside work. No offense intended.

I think it's not an important matter. If you correct her, they will be wondering why the stranger at the next table is so busybody listening in on their conversations and correcting them.
