going to school
I asked son whether he missed me while I was away. His answer? "What do you think?" Now does that mean he missed me or he didn't. Ha ha.
Son has has two unpleasant experiences in school this month. He even said he hated going to school. Asked why he must attend school etc. I hope it is just a passing phase. Telling him that some kids don't have the chance to attend school. His answer? "Lucky them" he said. Sigh...Informing him that this week will be a shorter week as Thaipusam will be a holiday , he replied" That doesn't make me feel any better."

aiks! been there...done that! hated school..hated exams..hated studying.
But had good frens..that helped.
Don't take it as a phase and ignore it. Just find out, indirectly.. .perhaps tell him of your (bad..if any) experiences in school..hopefully, he'll relate to u why he hates it?

I never really hated school, but I do loved those school holidays! no homework, and sleeping in until mom kicks my butt to help with the housework...

Hmm, sounds like he's going thru some rough times.
With my friends, I have noticed that some who have truly developed a 'hate' for school, just 'give up' on school altogether and just drift thru schooldays.
It is not wise just to leave things as they are and hope that it's just a passing 'phase'.
Better to talk to him diplomatically and understand him. Then try to work out his problems when he is willing.

there are times when i hated school too..esp when i haven't done my homework..and when i have a garang teacher who always picks on me..boy , am i glad that i dun have to attend school anymore..kekekeke...but then now kepala hotak dah berkarat oredi..school wat la..

I agree with jonzz, don't let thing go, especially if he is being bullied in school by fellow students or picked on by teachers.
