The latest survey says that men look for beauty first ( men never change huh?)in their potential girlfriends as opposed to ladies who place other criteria as more important. ( Is this a relief for most men out there?)
So daughter's comment was, " Of course, what is the use of being good looking but good for (at) nothing?"( referring to the men)

Beauty helps. No guy wants to be with a gal uglier than himself. For me that opened up a wide spectrum of choices. I got lucky and got a lot more prettier than I deserve.

Dun women do the same thing? I mean they may not look at beauty per se but they look for things like height or money which I think is no better and just as superficial.

1st impressions count - and the first thing that you see is how some looks. Cant be help, I guess. Men I guess are more visual.

People can't read minds. Not everyone is Charles Xavier.
Therefore looks and first impressions, like it or not, does have a significant impact for either gender.
However, how far it goes on for there depends on more than just physical
features.
