break-up
At lunch the other day, my friend's English hubby mentioned about a friend of theirs who stayed together as a couple for 18 years. The year after they got married, they broke up.
What happened? Any thoughts?
Is this why the statistics of people getting married is declining also over here?

strange that you should mention that. a friend of mine married her boyfriend of 10 years, only to divorce after 3. I wonder if it's because they waited too long to tie the knot, and had already gone past the 7-year itch period even before marriage, etc... maybe they would've been better of just remaining as sweethearts.

if we were to hear of a couple who have been together for say, 10 years and then go their own ways..we may just shrug and say, perhaps they were not compatible after all. but if the couple had been married and then divorced, we somehow wanna seek answers.
no marrigae, then no divorce....one less statistic at the marriage registry.

Who knows...
Perhaps all their friends and relatives harassed them to just tie the knot since they've been together for so long.
They were great friends staying together until outsiders decided to intrude and invade their privacy no end thinking they know what's best for them.
Sorry..I watch too much TV.

mebbe after marriage , u got a different kind of responsibility and obligation....and that may be the reason for incompatibility...

I think TV shows mess up true lives not the other way round.
