Son wrote me a note ( on a paper drawing block size!) and stuck it on his room door, after an "episode" I had with him. Irony was that I didn't read the note until much later.

Note says , " I am uncomfortable with you when you....."


Did you ever say or write such a note to your mother or any other person?

one set of parents

There are ladies who chose to have a baby , without the complications of having a husband or partner. They are fulfilling their maternal instincts here.

But what about the child. Is it fair for him/her to grow up with only one set of parents? He has no choice here, bear that in mind.

Daughter says it is better for these ladies to adopt , thus giving a mother to a motherless child, rather than to choose not to give a father to her own baby. Is she right?

money and break-ups

Son: Do you know, 90 per cent of marriage break-ups is caused by money?
( He must have got the stats from tv)
I hope we make up the 10 per cent!

Money mentioned in that statement quite obviously refers to the shortage of money.
But I cannot help but think that an excessive surplus of money may also lead to a
marriage break-up? There are important ingredients that make up a healthy marital relationship which money cannot buy?

mooncakes

Mooncake festival is around the corner. This year is one rare year where I do not go out of my way to buy mooncakes. You see, I have a weakness for them. I especially delight in the double yolk variety, lotus type. But alas, I know that eating them is not good for my waistline and so, this year, I have decided to discipline myself not to eat them.

One thing to look forward to next week, pay day is on my special day! Shall I treat myself to
a double egg yolk mooncake?Just on that day??

Me: I wish you were all grown up and working already

Son: Then you will be become older

Me: Is that good or bad?

Son: Good I guess, as you will be nearer to getting to heaven

Emmy Awards

I was not paying my full attention while watching the Emmy Awards on television so I asked daughter who was the lady beside the man on the red carpet.

Me: Is the lady his wife?

Daughter: Must be, she looked old (!)


What do you think of her reply?

My lady colleague walked up to me this morning and asked me to help her look for an English /Christian name. She wants one which suits her, she says.

She is a feisty, energetic, very fashionable lady. Generous, helpful and friendly.

Any suggestions?

adoption

The adoption programme over at channel 77 Astro gives very heartwarming stories of adoption. The adopted kids are really welcomed into their new homes and showered with lots of love .

When posed the question of whether any adopted kid would want to trace his natural parents one day, daugter replied." I would want to. I want to know the reason why they gave me away."

I was nearly given away , so I heard , because I was the fifth girl to be born to my parents. That would have been an unacceptable reason to be given away , right?

When I grow up, you treat me like a child.

I picked out the above from a parenting seminar I attended recently. The response is from a child during a session with his psychologist.

The latest survey says that men look for beauty first ( men never change huh?)in their potential girlfriends as opposed to ladies who place other criteria as more important. ( Is this a relief for most men out there?)

So daughter's comment was, " Of course, what is the use of being good looking but good for (at) nothing?"( referring to the men)
